Trying to establish the contribution that HR makes to the bottom line can be a tricky issue. It involves linking HR activity to the business strategy and operating plans. Today, increasing costs and competitive pressures mean the way we measure and benchmark HR is even more critical. HRPBC’s Legislative Chair, Kathy Coughlin, will provide you with the latest and greatest updates straight from SHRM’s 2010 Legislative Conference. Be prepared to ready your organization for the HIRE Act, Health Care Reform, and other pending legislation. Kathy will also discuss recent guidance from the Department of Labor regarding unpaid internships. She will also provide insight on the traps related to misclassification of employees as independent contractors. In addition to serving as our Legislative Chair, Kathy is President of Team HR, a consulting firm providing total solutions to human resources challenges such as training, policies and benefit administration. Ms. Coughlin has over thirty years of human resources management experience. Prior to starting her own company, Ms. Coughlin was Vice President of Human Resources for a large healthcare organization with over 3000 employees.
